In collaboration with Centrum ter Preventie van Zelfdoding (Centre for Suicide Prevention), we are working on a number of studies looking at data of the suicide helpline 'Zelfmoordlijn 1813'

Pilot study on follow-up of suicidal individuals

In this study, we are investigating whether callback calls are a feasible and meaningful way of following up on people who contact the suicide helpline 1813 by telephone, in addition to the existing support. Through an exploratory pilot study, we are qualitatively mapping the experiences of callers and responders as a basis for the further development and implementation process of the callback method.

Research on the effectiveness of chat conversations

In this study, we investigate the effect of a chat conversation with the suicide helpline 1813 on the caller's level of suicidality.

Research on call data

This study uses anonymous data recorded since 2008 by the suicide helpline 1813. Based on the results, we will gain insights into the profile of callers and their suicidal process. As a result, the Centre of Suicide Prevention will be able to better adapt its operations accordingly.
